My latest post on the Illusion of Causality in Charts received an incredible amount of interest, and I decided to develop a short seminar to talk about these ideas more directly with my readers.
Webinar content
The webinar will cover:
What is the illusion of causality
How different charts create different types of illusions
How to avoid/combat the illusion of causality
I will provide examples, such as the one below, to illustrate why and when jumping to causal conclusions can turn out to be a disaster.
By attending this seminar, you will gain a unique perspective that is largely lacking in the data visualization world and acquire new skills to utilize for data analysis and presentation.
If you're interested, please don't hesitate to participate! Past webinars have been a blast, featuring lively Q&A sessions where participants share ideas and ask thought-provoking questions. If you have questions you'd like to ask me or ideas you'd like to share, the seminar is a perfect opportunity.
Previous seminars
If you want to get a sense of what the seminars are like, you can find the recording of the two past seminars I organized here:
Take a look at the Q&A part where the seminar becomes more interactive. It’s quite fun! And challenging for me! 😂
Each seminar also includes a short preview of my Rhetorical Data Visualization course, which provides a framework to upgrade your data literacy and data thinking skills.
I hope to see you there on Monday!
Best,
Enrico.
